Job summary

Geo Civil Laboratories Pty Ltd t/as Geo Civil Laboratories seeks Civil Engineering Technicians for field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt. You will collect samples, conduct on-site tests, and prepare reports reflecting results and compliance with Australian standards.

The role requires 2–3 years of hands-on testing experience, proficiency with Excel and data management, and a current Australian driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• AQF Diploma/Associate Degree or advanced equivalent; or 3+ years of testing experience.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in testing civil construction materials (lab and field).
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS, NATA, and quality management systems with data integrity focus.
• Proficiency in operating, calibrating and troubleshooting testing equipment.
• Ability to guide junior technicians and maintain testing standards.
• Competence in MS Excel and electronic data management; meticulous documentation.
• Professional communication with clients, contractors, and site personnel.
• Willingness to travel; valid Australian driver’s licence; WHS compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out field and laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt per standards.
• Collect samples, perform on-site testing, record data with strict traceability.
• Analyse test data, perform calculations, prepare technical reports with conclusions.
• Contribute to site classification and pavement investigation reporting.
• Set up, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot lab/field equipment.
• Coordinate daily testing schedules to meet project turnaround times.
• Identify non-conforming materials; report findings and support corrective actions.
• Maintain records under Quality Management System; support audits.
• Provide technical guidance to junior technicians; ensure data integrity.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and site personnel on outcomes and requirements.
