Job summary

Surf Coast Shire Council in Victoria is seeking a Civil Maintenance Officer to operate and maintain heavy plant across the Surf Coast region, including Torquay and Winchelsea depots. The role focuses on civil maintenance for roads, footpaths, drainage and signage, with safe operation of plant up to 45T in a collaborative team environment.

You will need a Heavy Combination (HC) licence, several years in civil works, and experience in municipal asset maintenance.

Qualifications

• Holder of a current Heavy Combination (HC) or higher driver's licence with relevant endorsements to operate plant as assigned.
• Several years’ experience in civil works.
• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of municipal assets.
• Experience in a Local Government environment.
• A current Working With Children Check
• You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
• Police Check results that are suitable for this position, with full checks required for overseas work or national checks for Australia-only work.

Responsibilities

• Performing civil maintenance and construction work on roads, footpaths, drainage & signage, as part of a diverse team.
• Safe and appropriate operation of plant, such as Front End Loader, Backhoe, Roller, Sweeper & Trucks to 45T.
• Read basic construction plans and follow work instructions accurately.
• Support civil construction and maintenance activities, including material handling, measurement, compaction and operating a range of plant and equipment.
