Job summary

RecruitR seeks a Civil Drafter to lead a local drafting team on Sunshine Coast projects, spanning urban development and roading. You’ll draft master-planned communities and mentor junior staff.

Privately owned and highly profitable, the firm emphasises onshore drafting, high-quality documentation, and collaboration with senior designers to grow into design.

This is a ground-floor role with a path to leadership as the office expands, offering stability and a chance to shape the team and projects.

Qualifications

• Civil drafting experience in an engineering consultancy.
• AutoCAD proficiency; 12D experience desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities autonomously.
• Knowledge of local government regulatory frameworks.

They didn't rush into the Sunshine Coast — they built it on purpose. The leadership, the engineers, the designers: all secured first. What's missing is the drafter to tie it together on the ground. This is also a business that does not, and will not, offshore drafting. Not because they can't — because they won't. Quality documentation and experienced drafters matter too much to outsource.

About the Role

You'll draft across master-planned residential and community developments, spanning both urban development and roading design. If you want to grow into design, you'll work alongside senior designers to build that skill set over time.

• Running documentation solo to start, then building and mentoring a local team as the Sunshine Coast office grows
• Working closely with senior designers to expand from drafting into design
• Some combination of both, shaped as your role matures

You’ll be part of an intimate, close-knit local team, while plugged into a much broader bench of specialists across South East Queensland — engineers, designers and leaders genuinely regarded as some of the best in the master-planned community space.

What We're Looking For

This is deliberately open on experience — we want to hear from civil drafters at very different stages of their career, because the right person shapes this role, not the other way around.

Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who:

• Has proven civil drafting experience gained within an engineering consultancy
• Holds relevant qualifications
• Can manage multiple priorities at once, working autonomously
• Understands local and state government regulatory frameworks and statutory compliance requirements
• Has essential, hands-on AutoCAD experience — 12D experience is highly desirable, especially for those looking to grow into design
• Communicates clearly and confidently, including managing external consultants
• Solves problems creatively, finding a way through obstacles rather than around them
