Anjuna People is seeking a civil drafting professional on the Gold Coast to join a Southeast Queensland consultancy with three offices and ~50 staff. You’ll work on council and government projects, private developments, roads, and earthworks, producing drawing sets and sheet packages.
The ideal candidate is a year or two into civil drafting and proficient in AutoCAD, with a path toward 12d design. You'll be supported from day one by a hands-on civil manager, and you'll grow as you gain speed and
A couple of years into drafting, and still no one’s asked if you want to design?
Plenty of good drafters get stuck right there. You know the standards. Your sheets look sharp. You’re quick.
But the 12d side stays on someone else’s desk, and the chat about moving up never really happens.
So who’s this with?
A civil and structural consultancy with three offices across Southeast Queensland and around 50 people. Big enough to win serious work. Small enough that people know your name, and notice when you’re good.
The work’s a proper mix. Council and state government jobs make up a big chunk of it, alongside private development - roads, stormwater, earthworks, subdivisions. There are bigger road packages in there too, plus the odd building project. So you’re not churning out the same drawing set every week.
Local government work is their bread and butter. If you’ve drafted for councils before, you’ll walk in knowing the drill.
They’re growing, and they want someone they can bring on. You’ll get proper support from day one, not be left to sink or swim.
Here’s how the role runs. The drafting’s all in AutoCAD. The designers build the model in 12d, and you set up the sheets, handle the sheet admin, and turn it into a drawing set that looks right first time. That’s the job from day one, and I won’t dress it up as anything else.
But the drafters who do best here are the ones who want to design. The civil manager is hands‑on, spends real time with the team and reviews the work. So the path into 12d design is a real one, not something that gets mentioned at your review and forgotten.
So what are they after?
Someone a year or few into civil drafting. Junior to intermediate is the sweet spot. If you’ve got a year or two in a consultancy under your belt, that’s enough.
You’ll know your way around AutoCAD and the standards, and you’ll want to keep getting quicker and better at it.
Straight out of study? This one’s probably not for you yet.
