Job summary

City of Newcastle is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst to help co-create a liveable, inclusive city. You’ll bridge IT and business, map future-state processes, and translate complex needs into actionable requirements across teams in a fixed-term capacity until 23 November 2028.

You’ll plan workshops, analyse processes, document requirements, and support solution design from conception to implementation, contributing to Newcastle's 2040 vision and community-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• Plan and facilitate workshops with stakeholders from across the organisation.
• Analyse business problems, needs, processes and opportunities for improvement.
• Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non-functional requirements.
• Identify pain points, gaps, business rules, risks and dependencies.
• Develop and maintain requirements traceability and other fit-for-purpose BA artefacts.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate workshops with stakeholders from across the organisation.
• Analyse business problems, needs, processes and opportunities for improvement.
• Map current-state and future-state business processes using BPMN.
• Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non-functional requirements.
• Identify pain points, gaps, business rules, risks and dependencies.
• Apply structured analysis techniques, including root cause and fit/gap analysis where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain requirements traceability and other fit-for-purpose BA artefacts.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, architects, technical specialists and business subject matter experts.
• Support solution design, testing and implementation to help ensure delivered solutions meet identified business needs.
