Job summary

Wisely is seeking a delivery-focused Mechanical Engineer to optimise performance, reliability and safety of CHPPs and heavy plant at a dedicated mine site in the Central Bowen Basin, QLD. You will bridge technical design with field maintenance, driving asset integrity and efficient project delivery.

The role requires 3+ years in heavy industry or mining, a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, and hands-on experience in condition monitoring, vibration analysis, and safety compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in heavy industry/mining or materials handling is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee asset inspections and map repair schedules for large-scale mining infrastructure.
• Perform condition monitoring and vibration analysis on rotating equipment to diagnose health issues.
• Investigate faults and conduct root-cause analysis; propose engineering adjustments.
• Support shutdowns and project delivery with mechanical layouts and risk assessments.
• Ensure designs and procedures comply with Australian standards and safety rules.
• Collaborate with site trades, project managers, and client personnel to keep delivery aligned.

We are seeking a delivery focused Mechanical Engineer to optimise the performance, reliability, and structural safety of critical heavy industrial assets, including Coal Handling and Preparation Plants (CHPP), materials handling systems, and fixed plant machinery. Working within our dynamic asset integrity and engineering divisions, you will bridge the gap between technical design and field maintenance execution.

This is anongoing position based permanently at one dedicated mine site in the Central Bowen Basin

Key Responsibilities

• Asset Integrity & Remediation: Oversee structural, piping, and mechanical asset inspections to map and direct repair schedules for large-scale mining infrastructure and CHPP environments.
• Condition Monitoring & Vibration Analysis: Set up, execute, and analyze specialized vibration data collections on rotating equipment (such as conveyor drives, pumps, crushers, and screens) to accurately diagnose machine health anomalies and bearing degradation.
• Defect & Failure Analysis: Investigate equipment faults and component failures, conducting root-cause assessments to recommend immediate engineering adjustments or modifications.
• Shutdown & Project Support: Collaboratively plan and design mechanical layouts, project delivery scopes, and safety risk profiles for scheduled site outages and structural overhauls.
• Technical Compliance: Ensure all mechanical designs, testing routines, and technical specifications adhere rigorously to Australian standards and safety compliance structures.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with site trade crews (Fitters, Boilermakers), project managers, and tier-one client personnel to keep project delivery aligned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience: 3+ years of exposure within heavy industry, mining, or heavy materials handling (CHPP specific infrastructure experience highly regarded)
