Job summary

Kestrel Coal Pty Ltd is seeking skilled Production and Maintenance Fitters to support the CHPP at our Emerald, QLD site. This permanent role offers a 7/7 roster, competitive pay, and housing or allowance options to suit living arrangements.

You’ll perform hands‑on mechanical work, respond to plant issues, and deliver planned and breakdown maintenance on CHPP equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operation.

Qualifications

• A recognised Mechanical trade qualification.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining, repairing and fault‑finding on fixed plant equipment in coal handling or heavy industrial environments.
• For Production Fitter opportunities: respond to changing production priorities and perform safe, practical repairs.
• For Maintenance Fitter opportunities: experience delivering planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Strong hazard awareness and practical problem solving.
• A commitment to safety and plant integrity.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills, able to work in a team.
• CHPP experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on mechanical support to keep CHPP operating safely and efficiently.
• Respond to plant issues and production priorities to minimise downtime.
• Complete inspections, fault‑finding and timely repairs for production targets.
• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on CHPP fixed plant equipment.
• Collaborate across production, maintenance and site teams for reliable performance.
