Job summary

Glencore's Oaky Creek Coal operates Tieri CHPP in Queensland. We seek an experienced CHPP Fitter to join the maintenance team, providing mechanical support, fault diagnosis and repairs to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.

You will hold a Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter or equivalent), current Standard 11, and demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement in a heavy industry environment. This is a full-time role on a 7/7 roster near Tieri.

Qualifications

• Nationally recognised mechanical trade qualification (Fitter or equivalent).
• Current Standard 11 (Surface) or ability to obtain.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in CHPP maintenance environment.
• Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical maintenance support to ensure safe and reliable operation of the CHPP.
• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance activities on CHPP equipment.
• Conduct inspections, fault finding, repairs and servicing to maximise plant performance and reliability.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship while ensuring compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and actively promote safe work practices across the operation.

Reporting to the CHPP Senior Maintenance Engineer, an opportunity exists for an experienced Fitter to join the maintenance team.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Provide mechanical maintenance support to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the CHPP.
• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance activities on CHPP equipment.
• Conduct inspections, fault finding, repairs and servicing to maximise plant performance and reliability.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship while ensuring compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and actively promote safe work practices across the operation.

About you:

• Required Experience working within a CHPP maintenance environment.
• A nationally recognised Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter or equivalent).
• Current Standard 11 (Surface) or the ability to obtain.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a mining or heavy industry environment.
• Mining Supervisor G1, G8 and G9 competencies (formerly S1, S2 and S3).
• Experience in train loading and dozer operations.
• Current licences and competencies, including Forklift, EWP, Non-Slewing Crane, Dogging and Rigging.
