Job description

So many lives. So many ways. One you.

50,000 lives and counting.

That’s how many South Australians our people support each year.

As one of the state’s leading not-for-profits, we’re making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we’re growing our reach for the future.

It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?

Join us as a Children's Worker and be part of something bigger.

What you’ll do

You’ll play an important role in creating a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children can build confidence, develop life skills and strengthen their social and emotional wellbeing. Using early intervention, strengths based and trauma informed approaches, you’ll deliver meaningful activities and experiences that respond to the individual needs of children and families.

You will help shape engaging programs, support children with additional needs and provide practical guidance and resources that promote positive development and family wellbeing.

This is a part-time position working Monday's, Tuesday's and Wednesday's (9am-5pm), fixed-term contract until 30th June 2027.

You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

  • Planning and delivering engaging activities and group programs that support children’s development, life skills and wellbeing.
  • Building positive relationships with children and families, providing information, referrals and practical support where needed.
  • Responding confidently to challenging situations using trauma-informed approaches, helping children develop coping, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Supporting inclusive participation for children with additional needs and creating an environment where every child feels safe, valued and supported.
  • Contributing to program development and continuous improvement by using participant feedback, outcomes and community needs to strengthen service delivery.
What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working with children and families, with an understanding of child development and age appropriate practice.
  • The ability to build warm, respectful and trusting relationships with children, parents and caregivers.
  • Experience using strengths based and trauma informed approaches to respond to children’s individual needs and behaviours.
  • Strong communication, organisation and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to creating safe, inclusive and culturally respectful environments for children and families.
