Job description

So many lives. So many ways. One you.

50,000 lives and counting.

That’s how many South Australians our people support each year.

As one of the state’s leading not-for-profits, we’re making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we’re growing our reach for the future.

It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?

Join us as a Placement Support Worker, and be part of something bigger.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a passionate Placement Support Worker to join our Southern Foster Care team. In this rewarding role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary care team, supporting children, young people and Foster Carers, and working closely with AnglicareSA’s Child Protection and Out of Home Care programs, the Department for Child Protection, and other key stakeholders.

You will use your cultural humility, trauma-informed practice and understanding of child development to help create safe, healing and culturally responsive environments where children and young people can thrive.

This is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term contract, based at Christies Beach.

You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

  • Working as part of a supportive team of Placement Support Workers and Cultural and Therapeutic Practitioners to deliver services across Adelaide’s southern metropolitan region.
  • Holding a caseload and providing ongoing in-home support and guidance to children and their Foster Carers.
  • Using assessment and planning skills to coordinate strengths-based, trauma-informed supports for children and carers.
  • Embedding cultural awareness and sensitivity into all aspects of your work, particularly when supporting First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse children and young people
What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, social sciences, community development, community services or a related field, or relevant experience.
  • Experience working with families, children and young people in a community services setting.
  • An understanding of the Child Protection and Out of Home Care systems and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a collaborative approach.
