Job summary

Montessori Academy is seeking a dedicated kitchen/food service educator in Adelaide to support our early childhood centres. You will prepare morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks, ensure safe handling for allergy-conscious children, and plate meals for classrooms.

You will work in a collaborative team, uphold food safety standards, maintain kitchen cleanliness, promote the centre to families, and champion the Montessori Method in daily interactions.

Qualifications

• Food safety supervisor certificate required.
• Current Working with Children Check required.
• First aid certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Commitment to holistic development and family engagement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and snacks for children according to menu.
• Safely handle food for children with allergies.
• Plate meals and deliver to classrooms.
• Clean kitchen and assist with dishwashing.
• Clean office, staffroom, foyer and other areas as needed.
• Cut varied meats and assist with food prep where required.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Promote the centre to families and the community.
• Be an advocate of the Montessori Method to parents and potential clients.
• Maintain respectful, ethical communication with colleagues.

Responsibilities:

• Food preparation for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon snack
• Safe food handling for allergic/anaphylactic children
• Meal plating and service and taking to classrooms
• Kitchen cleaning and dishwashing
• Cleaning of office, staffroom, foyer and other areas if needed
• Cutting of varied meats
• Food safety and hygiene procedures
• Positively promote and market the centre to families and the community
• Be an advocate of the Montessori Method to parents and potential clients
• Respect and support colleagues by developing positive and ethical channels of communication that are based on principles of mutual respect, equity and fairness
• Attend meetings as requested
• Become familiar with Montessori Academy Policies and Procedures

Key Competencies:

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Current Working with Children Check
• First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one
