Job summary

seek.com.au is seeking a dedicated full-time Childcare Chef for an early learning service in Rozelle, Sydney. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals daily, following a seasonal rotating menu, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen while catering to dietary, allergy and cultural requirements.

The ideal candidate will have childcare or similar environment experience, plus a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and a genuine passion for healthy meals for children.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in commercial cookery, hospitality, nutrition or a related field.
• Previous experience as Cook/Chef, preferably in childcare, aged care, healthcare or similar setting.
• Experience with menu planning and managing dietary requirements and allergies.
• Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Genuine interest in preparing nutritious meals for young children.

Responsibilities

• Prepare morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea based on a rotating menu
• Cater to children's individual dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
• Ensure food is safely stored, handled and prepared
• Order food and kitchen supplies within the allocated budget
• Check and manage food deliveries
• Work with the Centre Manager to plan and prepare nutritious menus
• Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and dietary requirements
• Communicate positively and professionally with children, families and team members
• Contribute to a welcoming and positive environment within the service
