Fireflies Early Learning Centre in Brisbane is seeking a Centre Chef / Cook to create nutritious meals daily for our young learners. You will help develop kid-friendly menus and involve children in simple cooking activities, fostering healthy eating habits.

Experience in childcare or similar settings is welcomed, and relevant certificates are preferred. This role is on-site, with up to 25 hours per week, and offers opportunities for professional development and mentorship.

Competenze

• Previous experience preparing meals, preferably in a childcare or similar setting.
• Knowledge of allergies and food intolerances.
• Experience in devising, reviewing and adhering to Food Safety Program requirements.
• Current Food Handlers Certificate, Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willing to obtain.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).

We are seeking a creative and passionate Centre Chef / Cook to create nutritious and delicious meals daily. Menu development and encouraging child participation in the cooking process are key aspects of the role, along with helping us to empower our families with knowledge on the ideal meal and food requirements for very young children.

You don't necessarily need to be a qualified chef to apply! We also welcome applications from experienced Cooks, qualified Chefs and Early Childhood Educators who have cooking experience, culinary qualifications or a genuine passion for preparing healthy meals.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience preparing meals, preferably in a childcare or similar setting
• A genuine interest in preparing nutritious and well-balanced meals for young children
• Knowledge of allergies and food intolerances
• Experience in devising, reviewing ad adhering to Food Safety Program requirements.
• Current Food Handlers Certificate, Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willing to obtain
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
• Recent experience in a Cook role (within a childcare setting),
• A current Working with Children Blue Card - mandatory. First Aid Certification, Child Protection Training and Anaphylaxis & Asthma Management Training.
• Availability work 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
