The City of Canada Bay Council in Drummoyne NSW is seeking an experienced Child Safety Officer to join our People & Culture team in this newly created role. The role centres the safety, wellbeing and rights of children and young people across Council’s services and programs.

You will partner with the Community, Culture & Leisure directorate to ensure services meet the Child Safe Standards, our framework and legislative requirements, while leading on policy development and staff training to embed

Competenze

• Qualifications in Child Care, Education, Human Services, Risk Management, Governance or a related field.
• Experience in child safety, safeguarding, child protection, compliance or risk management, with knowledge of Child Safe Standards and legislation.
• Experience administering compliance programs and reporting systems, developing policies and procedures, and coordinating training or awareness initiatives.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and compliance reviews, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Current Working With Children Check and Class C Driver Licence.

Mansioni

• Partner with Managers, Coordinators and staff across the Community, Culture & Leisure Directorate to support compliance with Child Safe Standards and policies.
• Take a risk-based approach to strengthen child-safe practices in child-facing services, programs, events and facilities.
• Support the development and review of child safety policies and guidelines.
• Coordinate and monitor Working With Children Check obligations from recruitment through ongoing compliance, including mandatory training.
• Maintain compliance records and report trends and risks to leadership.
• Support the Children’s Services Manager and Child Safe Leadership Working Group to deliver training and awareness initiatives.
