Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a Child Care Cook to prepare nutritious meals for children aged 0 to 5 in our early learning centres. You will plan menus with the Centre Director, cater to dietary requirements and order kitchen supplies, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.

The role offers a permanent, part-time arrangement with a 25-hour work week, 12% superannuation, training support, and access to wellbeing programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing meals for young children (0–5) preferred.
• Ability to plan menus with Centre Director and cater for dietary needs.
• Awareness of food safety standards and hygienic kitchen practices.

As a Child Care Cook, you prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks that support the health, wellbeing and development of children attending our early learning centres. You prepare meals and snacks each day, ensuring they are ready on time and meet the nutritional, cultural and dietary needs of children aged 0 to 5. You plan menus with the Centre Director, cater for individual dietary requirements, and order food, kitchen and cleaning supplies to keep the service running smoothly. You maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen, store food correctly, clean equipment and utensils, and ensure food preparation areas meet high food safety standards. You also attend staff meetings and training activities and contribute to the day to day operation of the centre. Your work gives families confidence that their children's dietary needs are understood and supported.
