Job summary

The Centre for Women & Co. is seeking an experienced Child and Young Person’s DFV Counsellor to join our Therapeutic Services Team in Springwood.

You will provide counselling to children aged 5-17 exposed to domestic and family violence, using trauma-informed methods to help them express feelings and move toward recovery. You will conduct individual counselling, psychoeducation and group work, and collaborate with parents to strengthen family relationships affected by DFV.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in counselling, social work, psychology or human services, together with a relevant counselling qualification.
• At least two years’ experience providing counselling to children and young people, including those affected by domestic and family violence and complex trauma.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, creative or expressive therapies and CBT.
• Eligibility for membership or registration with ACA, PACFA, AASW or AHPRA, as applicable.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, organisation and time-management skills, with experience delivering group work and psychoeducation highly regarded.
