Job summary

Dynamoney in Sydney is seeking a strategic Head of Engineering to own the software engineering function, drive architecture, security and platform resilience for Australian SME lending.

The role combines hands-on coding with high-level leadership, shaping the technology roadmap, vendor relationships and delivery standards across in-house, platform configuration, and vendor delivery to ensure scalable, compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering
• 3+ years leading and line-managing engineering teams
• Hands-on capability to review code and contribute to design
• Experience in systems integration and API-led architecture
• Cloud-native delivery with IaC, CI/CD, and observability
• Proven ability to set engineering standards improving quality and delivery
• Vendor and partner management including technical due diligence
• Experience with IT service desk / end-user technology support
• Experience delivering in a regulated environment (finance, lending, privacy)
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tooling with governance

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for platform estate including data flows, API design and service boundaries.
• Contribute hands-on to design and code for high-risk components.
• Own CI/CD pipeline and toolchain; drive automation to reduce release risk.
• Lead production incident response and root-cause remediation.
• Manage backlogs, technical debt, and budgeting for engineering needs.
• Provide leadership through performance management and coaching of engineers.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to convert roadmap into delivery plans.
• Oversee IT Service Desk strategy, priorities and escalation paths.
• Define and evolve the technology strategy and 12–18 month roadmap.
• Engage with vendors for due diligence, integration, and vendor governance.
• Ensure security, privacy, and regulatory controls are embedded in design.
• Support governance, risk assurance, and regulatory reviews with architecture artefacts.
• Promote observability, testing, and release readiness.
