Job summary

Commonwealth Bank seeks a Chief Engineer to drive the Engineering Data Platform roadmap and architecture from Sydney. You will establish trusted, governed data products enabling data-driven decisions and AI-enabled engineering across the bank.

You will lead technical depth, mentor engineers, and uplift engineering practices while collaborating with CTO, Risk and Security teams to deliver scalable, secure data platform capabilities.

• Extensive experience in senior engineering leadership roles.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native data platforms and data governance.
• Ability to translate business, risk and technology into strategy.
• Proven delivery in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Define roadmap, architecture and guardrails for the data platform.
• Lead cloud-native data platform delivery and integration.
• Deliver trusted data products and engineering intelligence.
• Ensure quality, lineage, privacy and compliance.
• Champion DevSecOps, DataOps, automation and reliability.
• Influence senior stakeholders and translate needs into outcomes.
• Enable AI-enabled engineering and data-driven decision making.
• Mentor and uplift engineering capability across the platform.
