Job summary

FB Rice is seeking a Patent Assistant to join our Chemistry team in Melbourne for a full-time ongoing role. You will handle complex administration, work with IP Australia and NZ IP Offices databases, and support attorneys with filing, invoicing and calendar management.

The ideal candidate has IP firm experience of 3+ years, excellent communication, strong organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience (ideally 5+) working in an Intellectual Property (IP) firm.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-confidence, and an ability to exercise your initiative.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Respect for established processes and procedures.
• Solid knowledge of MS Office and ideally Inprotech.

Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities

• Working with our database and template system (including Inprotech)
• Timely and highly organised file management
• Proof reading
• Administrative tasks including filing, scanning, invoicing, organising diaries and making appointments for attorneys
• Other duties as required

Your Training and Skills

To be successful in this role it is a requirement that you have:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience (ideally 5 years’ plus) working in an Intellectual Property (IP) firm
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Self-confidence, and an ability to exercise your initiative
