Job summary

Juniper Aged Care is seeking a qualified Chef to join our roving team, delivering nutritious meals across our metro and regional residential facilities. You will report to the Reliever Team Coordinator and move between sites with no fixed roster, 37.5 hours per week.

The role requires a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) and a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, with a full Driving Licence and experience in commercial cooking or aged care catering.

Qualifications

• Must have strong organisational and time management abilities.
• Experience leading kitchen teams and coordinating roving cooks.
• Proven understanding of food safety and dietary requirements for older adults.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals across multiple locations per Juniper menus.
• Adhere to HACCP, food safety, infection control standards.
• Maintain clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environments.
• Monitor portion control, minimize waste and manage stock.
• Order and control stock within food cost guidelines.
• Supervise kitchen staff in line with DINE standards.
• Incorporate customer feedback into menu planning.

Reporting to the Relief Team Coordinator, the successful candidate will need to be flexible moving between locations at short notice. The ability and willingness to work in regional locations is essential.

Applicants must have full Australian working rights and a current driver’s licence.

The Role

We are currently seeking a qualified Chef to join our roving team across Juniper Metro and Regional residential facilities on a full‑time basis. Reporting to the Relief Team Coordinator, the successful candidate will need to be flexible moving between locations at short notice. The ability and willingness to work in regional locations is essential. Chef is responsible for providing appropriate, nutritious and enjoyable meals for our customers in accordance with Juniper’s cyclic menus, DINE standards and Food Safety Program.

The successful candidate must be able to work 37.5 hours per week (full‑time) with no set roster. Shifts will vary from week to week.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with Juniper’s cyclic and seasonal menus
• Ensure adherence to safe food handling, HACCP and infection control standards
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment
• Monitor portion control, minimise food wastage and manage stock effectively
• Order and control stock within food cost guidelines
• Supervise and direct kitchen staff in line with DINE standards
• Participate in customer meetings and incorporate feedback into menu planning
• Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant legislation

Key Requirements

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Full Driving Licence
• Experience in a commercial cooking and/or aged care catering environment
• Experience managing bulk ordering and stock control
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and infection control standards
• Understanding of dietary requirements for older people (including IDDSI standards)
• Ability to manage food budgets and cost controls
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Demonstrated leadership and team direction capability
