Job summary

Altrad is seeking an experienced Chef Manager to lead the offshore kitchen, catering and domestic operations on a remote facility off Karratha, WA. You will manage a busy commercial kitchen, drive food safety, and lead a team to deliver high-quality dining for personnel offshore.

The role requires 5+ years in food preparation and kitchen management, with relevant hospitality certificates. Offshore or mining camp experience is advantageous and strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in food preparation.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a commercial kitchen.
• Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) desirable
• Offshore or mining camp experience advantageous
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HSE requirements
• Experience with stock control, ordering and catering systems
• Strong leadership, communication and people management skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to participate in emergency response drills

About the opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Chef Manager to join our offshore team, responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the kitchen, catering and domestic functions on a remote offshore facility.

This is a leadership role suited to an experienced chef who can manage a busy commercial kitchen, lead a team, maintain high food safety standards and ensure a quality dining experience for personnel offshore.

Offshore position on a remote ocean platform approximately 70–80km off Karratha, WA

12-hour days offshore

2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster

3 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster once per year

Leadership role overseeing kitchen, catering and domestic operations

Responsibility for menu planning, food preparation, stock control and ordering

Management of dietary requirements and food allergies

Supervision, training and development of kitchen and domestic personnel

Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and HSE compliance

Support emergency management as a key member of the Emergency Management Team

About you

You’re an experienced Chef Manager or senior chef with strong commercial kitchen management experience and the ability to lead a team in a fast‑paced environment.

You’ll bring:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in food preparation

Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a commercial kitchen

Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)

Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) desirable

Offshore or mining camp experience advantageous

Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HSE requirements

Experience with stock control, ordering and catering systems

Strong leadership, communication and people management skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure

Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Ability to participate in emergency response drills

Offshore requirements include:

TBOSIET

Valid MSIC

Common Safety Training Program (CSTP)

First Aid

Helicopter Landing Officer

Ability to operate breathing apparatus

You’ll also be required to pass the relevant offshore medical and Fitness for Work assessment.
