Job summary

Grounded 2050 cafe in Camperdown is seeking a permanent full-time chef to work 38 hours per week. You will be responsible for meal planning, cost management, and food procurement, while maintaining high standards of preparation and presentation.

The ideal candidate has Certificate IV in commercial cookery, at least 2 years’ experience, and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong food-safety practices.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in commercial cookery or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Creating meal plans, calculating expenses for food and labour, and procuring supplies
• Supervising the quality of dishes during all phases of preparation and presentation
• Discussing food preparation matters with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen/serving staff
• Illustrating cooking techniques and guiding procedures
• Getting food ready and cooking it
• Clarifying and ensuring compliance with hygiene regulations
• Possibly recruiting and instructing staff
• Potentially freezing and preserving food items
