G'day Group's Adelaide Hills Convention Centre is seeking a Chef to lead a busy commercial kitchen servicing breakfast and dinner for groups and the Bistro. You will manage daily kitchen operations, ensure high food quality, maintain cost controls, and train staff to deliver consistent guest experiences.

The role requires previous chef experience, formal trade qualifications, HACCP and strong teamwork, with a focus on menu planning, ordering, and safe food handling across shifts.

Qualifications

  • Previous chef experience in a similar environment.
  • Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking.
  • Experience with electronic purchase ordering and cost management.
  • Experience in planning and developing menus.
  • Ability to work within a team and autonomously.
  • Ability to prep and organise ahead.
  • First Aid certificate is desirable.
  • HACCP experience with emphasis on food hygiene.
  • Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient, cost-effective food service in a busy Commercial Kitchen with split shifts (breakfast & dinner).
  • Oversee all kitchen staff including training and performance development; ensure high food quality.
  • Prepare alacarte dining, breakfast buffet, and buffet for small functions and conferences.
  • Liaise with front-of-house to ensure smooth, timely daily services.

The Role

As the Chef, you will be responsible for providing an efficient and cost-effective food service, with the smooth day-to-day operation in a Commercial Kitchen consisting of split shifts over Breakfast & dinner, with consistent superior guest focus at the forefront of all activities. As a Chef you will achieve this through implementing a strong service focus and ensuring that efficient standards and practices are employed. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.

Adelaide Hills Convention Centre offers a function menu from groups of 20-300 alongside the Bistro which opens to small groups when required. You will assist in overseeing all kitchen employees, including training and performance development and ensuring consistent food quality to a high standard.

You will also liaise with front of house staff to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of daily services.

About You

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Previous Chef experience and cooking in a similar environment
  • Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in electronic purchase ordering and cost management
  • Proven experience in planning and developing menus
  • Proven ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Ability to prep and organise ahead
  • Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable
  • HACCP experience essential, with a high emphasis on food hygiene
  • Current drivers license.

This role may involve extensive manual handling tasks including lifting up to 20kg kneeling and squatting, as well as handling chemicals and utilising machinery.
