Job summary

Discovery Parks seeks an experienced Chef for the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre. You will lead a busy commercial kitchen with split shifts for breakfast and dinner, delivering alacarte and buffet dining with strong guest focus.

You will oversee kitchen staff, train team members, develop menus, and liaise with front-of-house to ensure smooth daily service while maintaining high standards and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Previous chef experience in a similar environment.
  • Formal trade qualification in commercial cooking.
  • Experience with electronic purchase ordering and cost management.
  • Ability to plan and develop menus.
  • HACCP experience and strong food hygiene.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • First Aid certificate desirable.

The Role

As the Chef, you will be responsible for providing an efficient and cost-effective food service, with the smooth day-to-day operation in a Commercial Kitchen consisting of split shifts over Breakfast & dinner, with consistent superior guest focus at the forefront of all activities. As a Chef you will achieve this through implementing a strong service focus and ensuring that efficient standards and practices are employed. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.

Adelaide Hills Convention Centre offers a function menu from groups of 20-300 alongside the Bistro which opens to small groups when required. You will assist in overseeing all kitchen employees, including training and performance development and ensuring consistent food quality to a high standard.

You will be responsible for providing Alacarte dinning & breakfast buffet for guests residing at the Park, as well as buffet for small function & Conference groups. You will also liaise with front of house staff to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of daily services.

About You

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Previous Chef experience and cooking in a similar environment
  • Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in electronic purchase ordering and cost management
  • Proven experience in planning and developing menus
  • Proven ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Ability to prep and organise ahead
  • Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable
  • HACCP experience essential, with a high emphasis on food hygiene
  • Current drivers license.

This role may involve extensive manual handling tasks including lifting up to 20kg kneeling and squatting, as well as handling chemicals and utilising machinery.
