Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts in Melbourne is seeking a Cook / Chef with a passion for presentation, flavour and high standards. You’ll own your workstation, keep kitchens clean, and support the team with other duties.

Requirements include Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, ability to lift 23 kg, good literacy and numeracy, and a flexible roster including weekends and holidays. We offer a competitive salary, full uniform, room discounts and strong training.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher).
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and perform bending/kneeling.
• Good reading, writing and basic maths.
• Compliance with local food handling laws and alcohol service; must be of legal age and fluent in local language.
• Excellent communication and friendly demeanor.
• Flexible to work weekends, evenings and public holidays on a rotating roster.

Responsibilities

Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:

• Making every single meal a feast for the eyes and treat for the tastebuds
• Taking ownership for your workstation - keeping on top of supplies, equipment and waste
• Being cleaner than clean to meet or exceed local cleanliness and hygiene laws
• Helping with washing up and other kitchen duties where needed
• Taking on other ad-hoc duties like a true team player

What we need from you:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher)
• The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling
• A good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths
• Compliance with local laws on food handling and serving alcohol - you'll need to be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
• Great communication - you'll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to
• Flexible to work a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
