Job summary

The Eagle Tavern in Logan City, Queensland is seeking an experienced Chef to join our busy kitchen on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for assisting in daily kitchen operations, maintaining high standards of quality, presentation and safety, and helping to drive a positive team culture.

You will plan and prepare meals, monitor preparation for consistency, contribute to menu development, manage costs and stock, and ensure compliance with food safety and OH&S requirements.

Qualifications

  • Australian Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher
  • Minimum two years full-time post-qualification Chef experience
  • High-volume kitchen experience
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare high-quality meals meeting venue standards
  • Monitor food preparation and presentation for consistency
  • Assist with menu development and seasonal updates
  • Manage food costs, portions, and wastage
  • Order, receive, and monitor stock levels

We are a well-established hospitality venue committed to delivering high-quality food, exceptional customer experiences, and a positive team culture. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

About the Role

As a Chef, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the kitchen while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, safety, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and preparing high-quality meals in accordance with venue standards.
  • Monitoring food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Assisting with menu development and seasonal menu updates.
  • Managing food costs, portion control, and minimising wastage.
  • Ordering, receiving, and monitoring stock levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Supervising and training junior kitchen staff where required.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Working collaboratively with management and front-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Skills & Experience
  • Relevant qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management, or higher qualification.
  • Minimum of two years' full-time post-qualification experience as a Chef, or at least three years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
  • Experience working in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
