Job summary

Green Leaves Early Learning Centres is seeking a Chef to design and deliver nutritious menus for children from 6 weeks to 6 years, while managing day-to-day kitchen operations and maintaining high food safety standards. The role includes mentoring a kitchen hand and collaborating with educators to deliver engaging culinary experiences.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, a current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, and relevant child-safety clearances.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is required.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Current VIC Working with Children’s Check is required.
• Current VIC Child Protection/National Child Safety Training Certificates are required.
• Current First Aid and CPR (HLTAID012) are required.
• National Police Clearance obtained in last 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
• Prepare nutritious meals and purees, catering to dietary requirements for babies and children.
• Manage the kitchen autonomously with stock rotation, budgeting and shopping.
• Ensure food safety and supervision per Food and Council Authority and Green Leaves standards.
• Mentor a kitchen hand to deliver high quality food and service.
• Provide culinary classes with Educators for young learners.

• Use your mastery knowledge of cooking to plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old
• Preparing a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees, as well as working to dietary requirements for babies and children
• Confidently managing the kitchen autonomously, ensuring effective stock rotation, budgeting, and shopping for your kitchen
• Ensuring the highest level of food safety and supervision in accordance with the Food and Council Authority requirements and Green Leaves Early Learning Standards
• Mentoring and guiding a kitchen hand in a professional environment, to deliver the highest quality of food and service
• Providing thoughtful culinary classes alongside our Educators to our littlest learners

About You:

• A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or above
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Current VIC Working with Children's Check
• Current VIC Child Protection and National Child Safety Training Certificates
• Current First Aid and CPR (HLTAID012)
• National Police Clearance obtained in the last 6 months
• The availability to work from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday
