Job summary

Green Leaves Early Learning is seeking a professional Chef to prepare nutritious meals for children from 6 weeks to 6 years, planning menus and collaborating with Educators to support learning through food.

You will manage the kitchen autonomously, ensure food safety, supervise a kitchen hand, and contribute to wellbeing initiatives while benefiting from onboarding and a strong support network.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Current VIC Working with Children’s Check.
• Current VIC Child Protection and National Child Safety Training Certificates.
• Current First Aid and CPR (HLTAID012).
• National Police Clearance obtained in the last 6 months.
• Availability to work 6:30 am–2:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Plan an interesting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
• Prepare nutritious meals and purees with dietary considerations.
• Manage the kitchen autonomously including stock rotation, budgeting and shopping.
• Ensure food safety and supervision per regulations and standards.
• Mentor a kitchen hand in a professional environment.
• Provide culinary classes with Educators for young learners.

Day to day, in this role, you can enjoy:

• Use your mastery knowledge of cooking to plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old
• Preparing a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees, as well as working to dietary requirements for babies and children
• Confidently managing the kitchen autonomously, ensuring effective stock rotation, budgeting, and shopping for your kitchen
• Ensuring the highest level of food safety and supervision in accordance with the Food and Council Authority requirements and Green Leaves Early Learning Standards
• Mentoring and guiding a kitchen hand in a professional environment, to deliver the highest quality of food and service
• Providing thoughtful culinary classes alongside our Educators to our littlest learners

About You:

• A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or above
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
