Job summary

St John of God Ballarat Hospital in Ballarat, VIC, seeks an experienced Chef to join our Catering Services team. You will prepare, cook and serve meals for patients and staff, ensuring adherence to standardised recipes approved by the Catering Department and Dietitian.

You will maintain high standards of quality, presentation and hygiene, contribute to a collaborative team, and support our patient-centered mission and values in a private hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
• Completion of Basic & Advanced Food Handling Courses to meet food safety requirements
• Experience with preparing and cooking food in accordance with production schedules and Food Safety Program
• Preferred experience with Al-carte service

Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our Catering Services team in Ballarat. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality food services that support the wellbeing of our patients and caregivers within a caring and supportive environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and serving, and delivery of meals in accordance with Room Service menus, production schedules, and food safety standards. You will ensure all food is prepared using standardised recipes approved by the Catering Department and Dietitian, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene.

Your skills and experience

Successful applicants must hold a Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification as a Chef, completion of Basic & Advanced Food Handling Courses to meet food safety requirements and previous experience in preparing and cooking food in accordance with production schedules and Food Safety Program. Preferred experience with Al-carte service.

We can offer you

Salary: $64,948 to $66,730 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% Superannuation

Full-time opportunity (38 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract until December 2028
