Job summary

SMGT is seeking a hands-on Bricklayer to contribute to a range of masonry projects in the Mildura region. You will follow directions from a supervisor and perform duties including bricklaying, veneer and cavity work, arch and curved wall construction, and foundational sealing.

This role requires physical fitness, reliability, and the ability to work from plans with safe handling of tools. Teamwork and clear communication are essential for project success in outdoor, on-site environments.

Responsibilities

• Apply relevant OHS policies and procedures.
• Use bricklaying tools and equipment.
• Handle and prepare bricklaying materials.
• Apply basic levelling techniques.
• Carry out masonry veneer construction and cavity brick work.
• Lay multi-thickness walls and piers.
• Construct masonry arches and curved walls.
• Work from plans and specifications.
• Seal foundations with damp-resistant materials.
• Learn to use brick-cutting machines under supervision.
• Repair and maintain bricks and blocks.
• Assist in erecting scaffolding (licence where required).
• Communicate well with coworkers and supervisors.

Job description

Duties Include But Not Limited To

Follow direction from supervisor to -

• Applying relevant OHS policies and procedures.
• Using bricklaying tools and equipment.
• Handling and preparing bricklaying materials.
• Basic levelling techniques.
• Carrying out masonry veneer construction.
• Carrying out cavity brick construction.
• Laying multi-thickness walls and piers.
• Constructing masonry arches and curved walls.
• Work from plans and specifications
• Seal foundations with damp-resistant materials
• Under supervision learn to use various tools and brick-cutting machines to cut and shape bricks.
• Repair and maintain clay bricks, cement blocks/bricks and related structures.
• Asist in the erection of scaffolding (subject to licence requirements in some states)
• Other duties as directed.
• Communicate well in the workplace as well as working effectively with others.
• Enjoy practical and manual work.
• Must be physically fit, heavy lifting and repetitive movement.
