Job summary
Boral Cement seeks a Technical Manager to lead technical performance and process optimisation across the Berrima Kiln, Marulan Lime Kiln and grinding stations. Based in NSW with periodic site travel, you will guide a four-process-engineer plus automation engineer team to boost production efficiency, energy performance and product quality.
You will bridge process, quality, reliability and control systems, translating plant data into decisions that elevate output and safeguard asset integrity,
Qualifications
- 8–15+ years' cement industry experience, including process or production management.
- Proven experience leading a multi-site technical team across sites.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Mineral Processing, or Industrial Engineering; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Formal training in process control, Six Sigma/Lean, or reliability methodologies is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Monitor kiln, raw mill, cement mill and grinding station performance; identify bottlenecks.
- Set and refine process control targets for plant and grinding stations.
- Lead process trials and evaluate results against cost, quality and emissions objectives.
- Oversee mass and energy balance reviews and budgeting support.
- Ensure clinker and cement quality within specification across sites; coordinate with QA teams.
- Direct Automation Engineer across DCS/PLC platforms and APC systems.
- Champion deployment of advanced process control and online analysers.
- Ensure cyber-security, change-management and version-control for control systems.
- Lead problem-solving for process and quality issues (RCA, Six Sigma).
- Prepare technical performance reports for Plant Management.
