Job summary

Central Coast Local Health District is seeking a skilled Carpenter to maintain safe and high-quality hospital and community health facilities across the Central Coast. You will work with a small team of trade professionals to deliver timely carpentry services that support essential health services.

Responsibilities include repairs, installations, preventative maintenance, and collaboration with staff and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Carpentry Trade qualification with high finishing standards.
  • Strong Work Health and Safety commitment and risk assessment ability.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and maintain relationships.
  • Good written and verbal communication, and willingness to learn computerised building/maintenance systems.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to participate in on-call roster.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out carpentry repairs, installations, renovations and construction works across hospitals and health facilities.
  • Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance to high standards and per regulations.
  • Assess and prioritise maintenance tasks, respond to breakdowns and planned works.
  • Collaborate with trade and non-trade staff, contractors and stakeholders to deliver maintenance services.
  • Complete work management documentation and ensure safe work practices are followed.

About the Opportunity

Join Central Coast Local Health District as a Carpenter and play an important role in maintaining safe, functional and high-quality hospital and community health facilities across the Central Coast. Working as part of a small team of trade professionals, you will deliver timely and cost-effective carpentry services that support the continuity of essential health services. In this role you will:

  • Carry out carpentry repairs, installations, renovations and construction works across hospitals, community health centres and other CCLHD facilities.
  • Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring buildings, plant and equipment are maintained to a high standard and in accordance with relevant legislation, Building Codes of Australia and Australian Standards.
  • Assess and prioritise maintenance tasks, respond to breakdowns and planned works, and contribute to continuous improvement to minimise disruptions to essential health services.
  • Work collaboratively with trade and non-trade staff, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver effective maintenance services and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Complete work management documentation, undertake appropriate risk assessments and ensure safe work practices are followed, while contributing to the safety and security of tools, equipment and facilities.

About You

We are looking for a skilled and safety-focused Carpenter who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and is committed to supporting safe and effective health services across the Central Coast. We are looking for someone who has:

  • A relevant Carpentry Trade qualification and demonstrated experience undertaking carpentry and joinery works to a high finishing standard.
  • A strong understanding and commitment to Work Health and Safety, including the ability to undertake risk assessments and follow safe work practices.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including trade, non-trade and contract staff, while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, with the ability and willingness to learn and use computerised building and maintenance management systems.
  • A current NSW Driver's Licence, willingness to participate in an on-call roster and after-hours call backs, and a commitment to contributing to CCLHD's Caring for the Coast vision and NSW Health values.
