Job summary

IRT Australia is seeking a Catering Assistant for family-friendly hours, available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in a casual or part-time capacity. Previous experience in food manufacturing, large-scale production kitchens, aged care catering, or similar environments is highly regarded.

You will prepare and produce high-quality meals following HACCP guidelines, based at our Catering Services Centre, and support production and distribution across IRT locations.

About the Role

Are you looking for an exciting Catering Assistant position with family friendly hours? The succesful candidates will need to be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in a casual or Part Time capacity and previous experience in food manufacturing, large-scale production kitchens, aged care catering or similar environments will be highly regarded.

In addition, we are interested in recruiting a casual employee with administrative experience and/or a current truck licence. This role would provide flexibility to support operational requirements across multiple areas of the business as needed.

You will be responsible for the preparation and production of high quality foods while following HACCP guidelines. Based in our Catering Services Centre, you’ll work with the team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of production and distribution of meals to our IRT locations.

Key attributes we are looking for include:

• Strong cooking and food preparation skills
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
• Ability to work efficiently in a production-focused environment
• Reliability, flexibility, and a positive team attitude
• Experience within aged care catering or food manufacturing environments (preferred)

To Be Successful You Will Have

• Previous industry experience of 500 hours or more
• Qualifications in cookery e.g.; TAFE/Chef, certificate of proficiency in commercial cookery or equivalent (desirable)
• Previous experience in bulk cooking
• Self-motivated
• Demonstrated understanding of current relevant legislation and food handling guidelines
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Capable of hands-on problem solving, with the ability to generate new ideas and solutions
• Ability to engender trust, respect and buy-in at all levels of the organisation
• Personal values of integrity, authenticity and transparency
