Job summary

Law Society of NSW is seeking a casual Catering Assistant (up to 20 hours per week) to join the Catering team. The role is 65% back of house and 35% front of house, with duties including room setup, food and beverage service, basic food preparation and catering support for events.

You will ensure food safety and presentation standards, assist with stock and service activities, and work across kitchen and service areas.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.

We are currently looking for a casual Catering Assistant (up to 20 hours per week) to join our Catering team. This is a 65% back of house, 35% front of house role, Monday-Friday., The Catering Assistant will assist with room setup, food and beverage service, basic food preparation, cold food assembly and catering production support, event support, kitchenette replenishment and maintaining service standards across all catering activities.

What you'll be doing

• Comply with workplace health and safety, food safety and organisational policy requirements., The Catering team is responsible for providing catering services to the Law Society of NSW, which includes:
• Functions that include formal lunches for 10-50 clients, dinners for 12-100 clients and cocktail parties for 30-200 clients.
• Internal Meetings, Seminars & General Staff Catering; including breakfast meetings, morning & afternoon teas, sandwich lunches, working lunches, drinks meetings, espresso coffee and beverage service.
• Functions hosted by external Members or individual Clients at the Law Society, providing a fully licensed catering venue available for functions ranging from small meetings to 100 seat theatrettes.
• Daily Tuckshop orders.

About the Candidate

• Experience in hospitality, catering, customer service or food service operations.
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Current national police check.
• Food Safety Handler Certificate (desirable).
• Experience in catering, events or function operations (desirable).
• Ability to undertake basic food preparation and cold food assembly activities.
• Ability to assist with catering production, event preparation and service activities.
• Strong attention to detail and presentation standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work flexibly across kitchen and front-of-house environments.
• Ability to manage routine tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Basic computer and email skills.
