Job summary

GenesisCare in Melbourne is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our casual pool for the Epping Region. Prior oncology nursing experience is ideal, but training in radiation oncology will be provided. We’re looking for someone caring, adaptable and committed to high-quality patient experiences.

We provide full training, a supportive team, and a flexible casual roster with a focus on patient-centred care. No night shifts and access to development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Must hold current AHPRA registration as a RN.
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience preferred.
• Oncology nursing experience preferred but not required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care meeting physical and psychological needs.
• Undertake direct patient care including education, wound care and med administration per protocol.
• Manage daily patient load effectively.
• Facilitate communication with doctors, services, physicists and radiation therapists.
• Ensure all interactions are documented and actioned.
• Maintain procedures and clinical guidelines per best practice standards.
• Follow medication management protocols.
• Use ISBAR for handover and allied health communication.
• Demonstrate reliability, motivation and flexibility.

This role is ideal for an experienced oncology nurse, but we also welcome applications from RNs eager to learn. Full training in radiation oncology nursing will be provided. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone caring, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality patient experiences.

More Specifically, You Will

• Provide excellent patient care, ensuring patient’s physical and psychological needs are met.
• Undertake direct patient care including education, wound management and medication administration as per Practice Protocol.
• Effectively manage the patients that are seen each day.
• Facilitate effective lines of communication with doctors, patient services, physicists and radiation therapists and provide feedback and up to date information regarding patients.
• Ensure all patient interaction is documented, communicated and actioned.
• Monitor and maintain procedures, protocols, practices and clinical guidelines in line with best practice radiation oncology nursing standards.
• Ensure medication management protocols are followed.
• Use ISBAR communication tool for handover of patients and communication with allied health services along with documentation.
• Demonstrate reliability, motivation and flexibility.

We're Interested In Hearing From People Who

• Have a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Have a minimum 2 years post graduate experience (preferred).
• Hold a background in oncology nursing, but not essential. Training in radiation oncology nursing will be provided.
• Possess exemplary interpersonal communication skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy for all patients and their carers.
• Have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Show commitment to the application of best practice principles and quality improvement including the NSQHS.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
• Are experienced in wound care management
