Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a Wellbeing Support Worker to assist residents on their recovery journey at Djindigal (Healing Place), near Mareeba. The role is casual, offering day, afternoon and occasional sleepover shifts, and involves promoting wellbeing, independence and a supportive environment.

You will work as part of a small team, delivering activities, coaching and trauma-informed care to help residents achieve recovery goals while complying with safety and employment checks.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people affected by Alcohol and Other Drug use.
• Skills in de-escalation and trauma-informed care.
• Current First Aid and CPR required.
• Driver's Licence with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Support residents through daily wellbeing, recreational and life skills activities.
• Facilitate group activities and recovery-focused programs.
• Provide practical support and encouragement to achieve recovery goals.
• Respond to challenging situations using trauma-informed practice and de‑escalation skills.
• Build positive, professional relationships with residents while maintaining boundaries.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming residential environment that supports recovery and wellbeing.
