Job summary

Sacred Heart Primary School in Victoria is seeking dedicated Learning Support Officers to join our inclusive school community in a casual capacity. LSOs will work with classroom teachers, the Learning Diversity Team and leaders to support students’ learning, wellbeing and belonging, across Foundation to Year 6 as needed.

Flexibility is key: hours vary by school need and personal availability, with potential pathways to a more permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Support the Catholic identity and values of Sacred Heart.
• Support students with diverse learning and wellbeing needs.
• Assist with personal care when required.
• Follow Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and classroom adjustments.
• Supervise students during learning, breaks, and school activities.
• Work flexibly across classrooms and year levels.
• Communicate and work collaboratively with staff.
• Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to child safety and student wellbeing.

Job description

Sacred Heart is seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Officers to join our inclusive school community in a casual capacity. These roles offer flexible opportunities to support students on days or during periods when staff are unavailable. The position will commence as soon as possible, with hours varying based on personal availability and school needs. There may also be the opportunity for this role to transition into a more permanent position.

Our Learning Support Officers (LSOs) play a vital role in supporting students’ learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging. In a casual capacity, LSOs work alongside classroom teachers, Learning Community Leaders, and the Learning Diversity Team to provide support when staffing needs arise — ensuring continuity of care and learning for all students.

Special Requirements

• Working with Children Check (Employee) & National Police Check
• Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, and Mandatory Reporting training (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning profiles (desirable)
• Commitment to the Child Safe Standards, Catholic ethos, and DOBCEL policies

Special Requirements

• Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration.
• Current Mandatory Reporting training.
• Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma qualifications (desirable).
• Demonstrated commitment to Child Safe Standards and the safeguarding of children.
• Willingness to work flexibly across Foundation to Year 6 and specialist programs based on school needs.
• Experience teaching in primary school settings and supporting students with diverse learning needs (desirable).
