Job summary

Expect A Star in Australia is seeking a casual chef to cook healthy, nutritious meals for children aged 0-5 across early learning centres. You will be the sole kitchen lead, preparing and cleaning for up to 140 children and accommodating allergies.

Shifts are Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm, with on-call coverage for sick days and leave. The role offers agency pay rates, opportunities to transition to permanent staff, and access to nationwide employee discounts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy meals for children aged 0-5.
• Sole charge of the kitchen for up to 140 children each day.
• Prepare meals for children with food allergies and intolerances.
• Cover shifts at different centres on emergency basis.
• Demonstrate efficient time management to ensure meals are on time.

The Role:

• Prepare healthy and nutritious meals for children aged 0-5
• Sole charge of the kitchen to prepare, cook and clean for up to 140 children on a day
• Prepare separate meals for children with food allergies and intolerances
• Working at different centres on an emergency basis on call to cover sick days and annual leave
• Demonstrate efficient time management to ensure all meals are prepared on time

Essential criteria for this role

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Safe Food Handling certificate
• EXPERIENCE COOKING IN EARLY LEARNING SERVICES / Similar setting
• Current Working with Children Check (Employee);
• Flexible and a 'can-do' approach towards your role

Ideally, you will have experience planning and preparing nutritional meals for children aged 0-5 years, and knowledge of preparing separate meals for children with food allergies and intolerances. You will have the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
