Job summary

Expect A Star is seeking a Casual Cook for an Early Learning Service in Geelong. You will plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for children aged 0-5, with attention to allergies and dietary restrictions.

The role requires independent work, strong communication, and flexibility to cover multiple centres on a casual, on-call basis. Shifts are 7am–3pm, Monday to Friday, with potential to transition to permanent staff.

• Experience cooking in early learning services or similar setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and a 'can-do' approach toward the role.
• Current Working with Children Check (Employee)
• Recent police check

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals for children aged 0-5 years.
• Shifts run 7am–3pm, Monday to Friday.
• Sole charge of kitchen for up to 140 children per day.
• Prepare meals for children with allergies and intolerances.
• Work at different centres on an emergency basis (on call).
• Demonstrate time management to ensure meals are prepared on time.

Cook healthy and nutritious meals for children aged 0-5 as a casual chef in Early Learning

The Role:

Ideally, you will have experience planning and preparing nutritional meals for children aged 0-5 years, and knowledge of preparing separate meals for children with food allergies and intolerances. You will have the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.Prepare healthy and nutritious meals for children aged 0-5

• Shifts range between 7am - 3pm, Monday - Friday.
• 5th until 16th October
• Sole charge of the kitchen to prepare, cook and clean for up to 140 childrenon a day
• Prepare separate meals for children with food allergies and intolerances
• Working at different centres on an emergency basis on call to cover sick days and annual leave
• Demonstrate efficient time management to ensure all meals are prepared on time

Essential criteria for this role

• Completed Certificate III or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, orSITXFSA006 Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices
• EXPERIENCE COOKING IN EARLY LEARNING SERVICES / Similar setting
• Current Working with Children Check (Employee);
• Recent police check
• Flexible and a 'can-do' approach towards your role
