Job summary

Downunder People is seeking a Case Manager – Indigenous Identified to provide culturally safe case management and coordination for Aboriginal women and their children affected by family violence. You will conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments, manage referrals, and deliver short-term support.

The role emphasises trauma-informed, culturally grounded responses and close collaboration with Aboriginal families and communities to improve housing and safety outcomes.

Qualifications

• Requires relevant qualification in counselling, social work or mental health.
• Experience in case management and referrals essential.
• Sensitive to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander culture and families.

About the Employer:

A leading Aboriginal-specific family violence service for the eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne. Delivering trauma-informed, healing culturally grounded responses to individuals, families and Community experiencing, or at risk of, family violence. Services and Programs Include, Intensive Case Management, Child & Family Services, AOD, Therapeutic Services for Women, Children, Young People & Families and Therapeutic Group Programs.

Role Purpose:

Providing family violence case management support and case coordination to Aboriginal women and their children affected by family violence. Utilising our strengths-based approach, conducting comprehensive needs and risk assessments for women and their children including screening, assessment, referrals and short-term support.

Position Specifics:

Case management, referrals, promoting cultural safety, healthy family functioning, safety from violence, overall security, and the stability and development of Aboriginal children and young people. Liaising with Aboriginal families and communities to enhance child, family and Community capacity. This role also provides support and specialised knowledge to improve responses to housing challenges faced by Community members.
