Job summary

Connectus Recruitment is seeking an experienced Carpenter who can step into a hands-on Site Supervisor role for a Melbourne-based commercial builder. The role combines on-site carpentry with coordinating subcontractors, trades and site personnel across school and commercial refurbishment projects, with travel to regional Victoria.

Initially contract-based with the option to go permanent for the right person.

Responsibilities

• Ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with relevant standards and site requirements.
• Monitor project progress, quality and workmanship.
• Liaise with project managers, clients and other key stakeholders.
• Assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating materials and labour.
• Oversee works across school, commercial and make-safe projects.
• Travel to regional Victorian sites when required.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter who can step into a hands-on Site Supervisor role with an established commercial builder based in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. The business specialises in commercial refurbishments across schools and commercial facilities, alongside a dedicated make-safe division. With a team of approximately 60 direct employees and projects spanning across Victoria, the company has built a strong presence in the commercial construction sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Carpenter who enjoys being on the tools when required but is also confident coordinating trades, overseeing site activities and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and to a high standard.

The Position

will initially be offered on a contract basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day site activities across commercial refurbishment projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, trades and site personnel to ensure work is completed efficiently.
• Undertake hands-on carpentry work where required.

About You

• Qualified Carpenter with solid commercial construction experience.
• Previous experience supervising sites, leading trades or coordinating projects.
• Strong understanding of commercial refurbishments and general building works.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Reliable, proactive and capable of working independently.
• Willingness to travel across Victoria when required.
• Current White Card and a valid driver's licence and a working with children’s check
