Job summary

Natural Lighting Products is seeking a skilled Carpenter & Skylight Installer in Noble Park, VIC, for a full-time role to install skylights and glazing systems on residential and commercial properties.

You will work with timber framing, weatherproofing, and roofing components, interpreting drawings, measuring sites, and ensuring safe, high-quality installations while adhering to Australian standards. A valid driver’s license and White Card are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Framing: Assemble timber framing for skylight shafts and roof openings.

• Measurement and Planning: Read drawings and measure sites for materials.
• Roof Modification: Make minor adjustments to roofing components.
• Repair and Maintenance: Fix damaged roof components and maintain integrity.
• Material Handling: Cut, shape and fit timber with hand/power tools.
• Site Preparation: Set up scaffolding and ensure safety compliance.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure installations are level, secure and compliant with standards.

Natural Lighting Products is a company that specialises in the design, manufacture, distribution and installation of Skylights and Natural Lighting Solutions. We have sales and distribution facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Perth.

Our company is seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter & Skylight Installer to join our team in Noble Park, VIC. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to work with high-quality glazing and skylight systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for the professional installation, maintenance, and repair of skylights, glass panels, and glazing systems for both residential and commercial properties.

Key responsibilities

Core Responsibilities & Duties

• Framing: Assemble and erect timber framing for skylight light shafts and roof openings in accordance with technical specifications


• Installation: Install building materials including Gyprock, plywood sheeting, fascia panels, and roof flashing systems to support skylight integration


• Measurement and Planning: Interpret technical drawings and conduct site measurements to determine material requirements and installation procedures


• Roof Modification: Carry out minor structural modifications to roofing components, including preparing roof openings and adjusting timber supports for skylight installation


• Repair and Maintenance: Repair or replace damaged roofing components such as flashings, joists, and eaves to maintain structural integrity


• Material Handling: Cut, shape, and fit timber and other materials using hand and power tools


• Site Preparation: Set up and dismantle scaffolding and prepare work areas in accordance with safety requirements


• Quality Assurance: Ensure all installations are level, secure, and compliant with relevant building standards Work Health and Safety: Maintain a safe work environment, including working at heights, using protective equipment, and following safe operating procedures

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in roof/framing carpentry or skylight installer, preferably with 3+ years in the industry


• Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and installing skylight materials


• Strong understanding of weatherproofing techniques, sealants, and flashing installation


• Knowledge of relevant building codes, Australian Standards (AS), and safety regulations


• Comfortable working at heights and on roofs with a head for safety


• Physical fitness and stamina to lift and carry materials, often in challenging conditions


• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately


• Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to access job sites across metro Melbourne


• Current First Aid Certificate and White Card (or willingness to obtain) is desirable
