Job summary

Manning Base Hospital, part of Hunter New England Local Health District, is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join the Facilities Management team. You will undertake repairs, maintenance and minor construction works across Health facilities, delivering high standard carpentry and safe, functional spaces for patients, staff and visitors.

Permanent full-time position (38 hours per week) with on-the-job training.

Based at Manning Hospital, you’ll join a well-organised Facilities Management team with a reputation for getting things done. Reporting to the Engineering and Building Services Manager, you’ll work alongside experienced and approachable colleagues in a practical, collaborative environment where no two days are the same.

About The Role

As a Carpenter, you’ll play an important role in maintaining safe, functional and welcoming healthcare facilities across the Lower Mid North Coast Sector.

Your Day-to-day Work Will Include

• Undertaking repairs, maintenance and minor construction works across Health facilities.
• Completing carpentry and building works to a high standard.
• Responding to maintenance requirements while minimising disruption to patients, staff and visitors.
• Managing your workload and prioritising tasks to meet operational requirements.

You won’t be expected to know everything on day one. You’ll receive on-the-job training and orientation from skilled and experienced colleagues, helping you become familiar with the facilities, systems and requirements of the role.

You’re an experienced Carpenter who takes pride in your work and knows how to manage your time effectively. You’re comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and are someone your team can rely on to get the job done.

Under the direction of the Construction Manager, undertake building and construction works on HNE Projects to ensure provision of high quality work with minimum disruptions to patients and staff of the facilities.
