Job summary

Optiver in Sydney invites final-year students to join Career Kickstarter: Research, a five-day immersive program designed to accelerate the journey from university to a full-time research career in quantitative trading. Led by Optiver’s education team, you’ll gain a deep understanding of market making and trading strategies through a blend of hands-on and classroom learning.

Eligible students with Australian working rights may receive an offer for our 2028 Graduate Program.

Qualifications

• Final year students graduating in 2027 or earlier.
• Australian working rights required.
• Studying a quantitative or technically focused degree such as Maths, Statistics, Physics, Electrical/Mechatronic/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics.

Responsibilities

• Gain deep understanding of market making and trading strategies through hands-on and classroom learning.
• Engage in interactive lectures and trading simulations with mentorship from education team.
• Build and test your own trading algorithm and analyze real-world data.

Who you are

• Final yearuniversity students(graduating in 2027 or earlier).All degree backgrounds are considered.
• An Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or able to provide evidence of full working rights.
• Studying (or studied) aquantitive or technically focused degree, such as Maths, Statistics, Physics, Electrical / Mechatronic / Software Engineering, Computer Science, Applied / Quantitative Finance or Econometrics.
• Inquisitive and critical thinker, who enjoys creating innovative,new solutions.
• Have a passion for quantitative problems and working in collaborative, dynamic environments.
• Pragmatic, focused on outcomes and can communicate technical concepts well.
• Enjoys utilising technology, programming, or maths in your daily life to solve problems.
• Possess programming experience in any language (C, C++, Python, Basic, JAVA, etc.).
