Job summary

Islamic College of Sport NSW is seeking an experienced Careers Advisor & Teacher to join our team in a full-time role commencing Term 1, 2027. The role combines career education, student pathway planning and a small teaching load for Years 11–12 within a faith-based, sport-focused environment.

You will counsel students, guide university/TAFE and alternative pathways, and deliver a contemporary careers program while maintaining Individual Pathway Plans and coordinating VET work placements.

Qualifications

• Relevant careers adviser qualifications and/or industry experience.
• Excellent presentation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong administrative and organisational capabilities.
• NESA accreditation and approval to teach in NSW (or ability to obtain).
• A valid Working With Children Check.
• Commitment to child safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group careers counselling to students and families.
• Support students with university, TAFE and pathway applications.
• Develop and deliver a contemporary careers education program.
• Maintain pathway plans for Year 11 and 12 students.
• Coordinate and support VET work placement opportunities.
• Deliver information sessions on tertiary education, training pathways and career planning.
• Build partnerships with universities, training providers and industry.
• Contribute to pastoral care and co-curricular programs.
• Teach a small timetable load in areas such as HMS, Sport Coaching or SLR.
