Job summary

Department of Health Tasmania invites applications for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory in Hobart. You will provide specialised nursing care across all stages of cardiac procedures in a fast-paced, high-acuity cath lab.

You will scrub, circulate, and assist with procedural sedation, participate in emergency cardiac response, and contribute to education, quality improvement and service development within the cath lab.

Qualifications

• Three years of clinical cardiology or comparable acute care experience.
• Five years post-graduate nursing experience with progressive clinical knowledge.
• Experience assessing, monitoring and managing acutely deteriorating patients.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care across pre-, intra-, and post-procedural phases of cardiac investigations.
• Perform scrub, circulating/scout duties and nurse-led procedural sedation.
• Support diagnostic and interventional procedures including angiography and device implantation.
• Monitor haemodynamic status and respond to deterioration or complications.
• Maintain infection control, sterile technique and radiation safety standards.
• Contribute to efficient workflow, case management and cath lab resource use.
• Communicate with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team for safe care.
• Participate in emergency and on-call pathways as required.
• Contribute to education, quality improvement and service development.
