Job summary

Department of Health Tasmania in Hobart, Tasmania, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab). You will provide specialised nursing care across all stages of cardiac procedures and work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with scrub, scout/circulating and sedation support.

Join a multidisciplinary team delivering coronary angiography, PCI, electrophysiology, device implantation and structural interventions.

Qualifications

• ECG interpretation and rhythm recognition.
• Advanced haemodynamic monitoring skills.
• Experience in Cath Lab, interventional cardiology or other procedural environments.
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles and nurse-led procedural sedation.
• Current or working towards BLS and ALS certification.
• Competency in peripheral IV cannulation.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialised nursing care across pre-, intra- and post-procedural phases of cardiac investigations and interventions.
• Undertake Cath Lab roles including scrub, circulating and procedural sedation support.
• Participate in emergency cardiac response pathways and on-call services.
• Monitor haemodynamic status and respond promptly to deterioration or complications.
• Maintain infection prevention, sterile technique, radiation safety and governance standards.
• Contribute to efficient workflow, case management and Cath Lab resource use.
• Communicate with patients, families and multidisciplinary team for safe, coordinated care.
