Job summary

Cancer Council NSW is expanding its national Cancer Navigation Service to connect Australians affected by cancer with trusted information, emotional support and services. You will work in a non-clinical navigation role, offering guidance across telephone and digital channels and linking clients to appropriate services.

The role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract as two part-time positions at 0.6 FTE.

Qualifications

• Tertiary health qualifications and relevant clinical/health experience.
• Experience assessing patient needs and referring to health professionals and services.
• Strong verbal and listening skills with ability to build rapport with diverse groups.
• Experience providing psychosocial and informational support.
• Ability to use client management databases and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred emotional support and information via telephone and online channels.
• Refer clients to internal and external services and resources.
• Maintain data integrity in client databases per program standards.
• Escalate to crisis or psychological services when required.
• Contribute to ongoing quality improvement and guideline adherence.
