Job summary

SOS Recruitment is seeking experienced APS5/6 Personnel Security Vetting Officers to join a busy security team in Canberra, starting December 2026 for ~12 months. Role involves vetting up to NV2 level, complex assessments, QA activities and advising on clearance outcomes.

Office-based position with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality and timely delivery. Mandatory NV1 clearance and Certificate IV in Government (Personnel Security Vetting) are required; prior vetting experience and strong

Qualifications

• Mandatory Certificate IV in Government (Personnel Security Vetting).
• Must hold a minimum NV1 security clearance.
• Demonstrated experience undertaking personnel security vetting and clearance assessments.
• Sound knowledge of the PSPF and personnel security requirements.
• Experience managing complex assessments and preparing high-quality documentation.
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgement and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while meeting competing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake personnel security vetting in accordance with PSPF and SOPs.
• Conduct security clearance assessments up to NV2 using case management systems.
• Assess and manage complex vetting cases with accurate documentation.
• Provide sound advice and recommendations on clearance outcomes.
• Manage a QA caseload ensuring compliance with security policies.
• Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to support vetting processes.
• Prepare high-quality assessment reports and supporting docs.
• Manage competing priorities and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
• Undertake additional security and administrative tasks including inbox management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and compliance with security requirements.
