Job summary

Thomas More College is seeking a dedicated Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our Grounds & Maintenance team. This permanent role maintains the College's buildings, grounds and facilities, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

You will undertake diverse groundskeeping, maintenance and facility support across the campus. We value hands-on professionals who collaborate well, manage priorities, and uphold high safety and workmanship standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, building maintenance or handyman services.
• Knowledge of garden, turf and landscape maintenance practices.
• Experience operating and maintaining plant, machinery and maintenance equipment safely.
• Skills in minor construction, repairs, installations and preventative maintenance.
• A strong commitment to Work Health and Safety principles and safe work practices.
• Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day maintenance of College buildings, grounds and facilities per schedules and WHS.
• Perform gardening and landscaping: planting, weeding, bed prep and turf maintenance.
• Maintain sports grounds, gardens and outdoor spaces to a high standard.
• Safely operate and maintain groundskeeping machinery, including ride-on mowers and tools.
• Undertake general repairs, preventative maintenance and minor construction works.
• Support contractor management, coordinating site access and compliance.
• Maintain campus cleanliness and presentation via litter collection and waste/recycling.
• Assist with workplace inspections, hazard identification and remediation.
• Respond to maintenance, security and emergency situations, including occasional out-of-hours.
• Participate in College activities, training and professional development.
